AD 244-249, struck at Rome AD 244-247, RIC-IV-III-28c-C; Van Meter 5, 22mm, 4.02 gms, Obverse: radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I facing right, IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG, Reverse: Annona standing left, holding ears of grain over a modius, and holding a cornucopia, ANNONA AVGG, a very lustrous coin, superb and very sharp portrait of Philip, a very sharp and detailed Annona and devices on the reverse, full and sharp legends on both sides of the coin, the numismatist/dealer from whom I purchased the coin and who grades it EF remarks of it: “A superb, well centered specimen that is basically ‘mint state.’ Fresh reverse die which is quite unusual. Special.” Well, what more can I say after that, except that I wholeheartedly concur, a beauty of a coin and an exceptional example of this issue of Philip’s, Asking price: $280
